football forward, member of the Klub ligových kanonýrů (‘League Marksmen Club’), national team member, Kladno football legend, 1962 World Cup Vice-Champion from Chile.
A native of Řevničov near Kladno; former Rakovník football player; he joined the then Baník Kladno in 1958 through Slavoj Liberec, Tankista Prague and Spartak Prague Sokolovo (former name of Sparta Prague) and was wearing the blue and white jersey to the end of 1964; the position of centre-forward and his football skills predestined him to score goals – he scored 299 goals in 360 matches, 55 goals in the first league matches for Kladno.
A total of 117 league goals scored for Tankista, Spartak Sokolovo, Kladno and Slavia ranked him within the Kladno team just behind František Kloz and gave him the right to be a member of the League Marksmen Club; he represented for a total of seventeen times and scored 9 goals; he played at the World Cup in Chile as a member of Team Czechoslovakia, scoring a very important first goal in the match against Yugoslavia, with our other champions then fought against a stellar Brazil in the final match of the championship.
He went to work in Austria in 1967 where he played for the firm’s eleven SV Hinteregger Vienna, then for HAC Vienna and Slovan Vienna which he also coached later; he did not return to Czechoslovakia in 1972, the communist regime had tried to erase him from the fans’ memory; the elegant Viennese still sports and visits his friends in Kladno..
